His family calls him Amer. His online friends who have never met him in real life refer to him as Miracle-. Amer Al-Barkawi is a professional Dota 2 player who has managed to become one of the most recognizable figures in the industry.
The introduction to video games
While friendly and communicative, Miracle- does not talk too much about his personal life. His father is Polish and his mother is Jordanian. He also has a brother, who actually introduced him to the gaming industry years ago. He was born on the 20th of June, 1997.
His gaming adventure began in 2009. His brother took him along to a local gaming Internet café and introduced him to Dota 1. He was hooked in within weeks only. Just like many other players, he had the beginner’s luck, but he actually got stuck to the game.
He used to beat better players and win games relying on Shadow Fiend. It was a tactic that most other players had no clue about – they simply could not figure it out. They called him the miracle boy, so he chose this name for further references. He never changed it.
Building a career in video games
His adventure in multiplayer online games started with Defense Of The Ancients. It was around 2005. When he started playing Dota 2, he was a pubstar. In other words, he had a high rank in games, but he was not playing at a competitive level. Simply put, he was good, but he was a casual player.
He joined the Balkan Bears in 2015. That was his first step in the professional industry. It was a good introduction, but it did not last. He failed to compete in any major tournaments and he decided to quit the team after about four months.
By the end of the same year, Miracle- came up with a solid MMR of more than 8000. He surpassed the famous Aliwi w33 Omar and became the best ranked player in the entire game. He did not have a team back then, so he joined (monkey) Business.
(monkey) Business relates to Miracle-‘s first known performances. The team changed the name to OG. It won the Frankfurt Major tournament, as well as the Manila Major tournament. In 2016, the team grabbed the ESL One Frankfurt award.
By the spring of 2016, Miracle-‘s ascension was still going higher. He is the first Dota 2 player in the history to achieve 9000 MMR. By September, he joined Team Liquid and won The International 2017, which brought in about $11 million.
These days, Miracle- is working on his own team – Nigma. He left Team Liquid at the end of 2019 and built his own group.
Improving the personal net worth
It is hard to be specific about Amer Al-Barkawi’s net worth, but based on his competitions and awards, he won just under $5 million in about 60 tournaments.
